Finnair, are possibly the worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. CHOOSE ANOTHER AIRLINE !!!!!!!!
Since having these problems I have read the other reviews of Finnair online and cant help but think that Finnair employ a team of staff writers for the sole purpose of manufacturing glorious, flattering & often self indulgent reviews of their own company under the guise of a satisfied, jubilant & gushing customer.
So I am inclined to set the record straight.
I purchased a ticket to Australia with Finnair as recommended by my travel agent due to their GREAT REVIEWS online, which promote, great service and flexibility, I found my dealings with Finnair to be VERY VERY different.
I requested my flight be bought forward less than 2 weeks (12 days to be exact) from the original booking date,
This request was made 1 month before I was due to fly.
Initially Finnair said that I could change that flight but would have to upgrade my ticket, as the reason I needed to bring my flight forward was a family emergency, I did not mind in the slightest paying for an upgrade as - I JUST NEEDED TO GO HOME !!! - 2 weeks earlier than stated.
So after finding availability in other classes & agreeing to pay for an upgrade (or blackmailed into it), I thought my problems were solved until ( and I do have to give them credit here ) a customer service representative called to inform me that due to a technicality with my booking, I would not be able to upgrade despite the availability I was more than happy to pay for.
Which can only mean that Finnair would rather send an empty seat to my destination than accomodate an existing customers needs.
So despite the GLOWING and somewhat suspect reviews you may see online,
Please be aware of this airline and its ridiculous, impractical & questionable policies
CHOOSE ANOTHER AIRLINE !!!!!

I use Finnair quite alot, traveling mainly between Finland and UK. Finnair has excellent safety record, and onboard service is great. Helpfull and professional staff Surprisingly good food (!) served with wine or beer for free, when competitors just offer cold sandwiches.
