An overall pleasant experience!, Jun 02, 2009
reviewer: Malika from Dubai
Cabin Appearance: Clean & Presentable.

Service at Departure Airport: Efficient and Satisfactory.

Seats: Regular economy seats with but better than Qatar Airways or Emirates.

Meals: Commendable even for Economy class! Even though we were right at the back, the hostess said to me later that they sensibly stock up with more chicken options as that’s what most passengers prefer. My son totally has a great time with his child meal too!

In Flight Entertainment: Good selection of entertainment with functional AVODs. In flight duty free expensive. Lots to do for kids. Wish would include a trip to the cockpit to make it perfect!

Cabin Staff: The Sky Nanny service by Gulf Air is one of a kind with the appointed hostess concentrating only on kids and regularly checking in if they were settled or needed more to play with apart from their complimentary activity packs!

Arrival Services: Gulf Air connections are via Bahrain which has a decent Airport with efficient staff and had a pleasant experience at a proper dining restaurant provided for connecting passengers with long stopovers and a choice between 2 meals served courteously. To reboard, priority was given to passengers traveling with kids.

Summary: The most preferred airline for me to date with a wonderful in air and on round crew and although Bahrain Airport could do with more comfortable waiting areas, kids play sections, once on board you can expect quality and excellence in service with an inviting atmosphere! Truly value for money with Two Thumbs Up!!

Gulf air a great flying experience, Sep 29, 2007
reviewer: A.R from AUS
My family and I flew SYD,SIN,BAH,LCA and back on a 24 hour flight. I must add that cabin service was great and so was the food. We could get vegetarian or normal meals as we wanted. As you would know in a 24 hour flight we would be flying through the noght. At night the cabin mood was very relaxed and it was so comfortable even in economy that i didnt feel the turbulence which fello passengers late told me about. My most high point for gulf air is in athens on the way back we got escorted right to our flight by a gulf air official in a friendly manner as our previous flight was late on olympic air from Rome. Great also on fight back which was ROM, ATH, BAH, SIN, SYD.
Great job Gulf air you are to be commended.

Excellent airline - great value for money!, Sep 25, 2007

Flew from Bangkok to London via Muscat with Gulf Air and was very impressed with the service. Both planes were only half full and I had an entire row of seats to myself - which made for a pretty good sleep considering i'm 6'3"! Crew were very attentive and were more than happy to keep drinks and juice coming throughout the entire flight. Far better than Emirates and we landed 1 hr ahead of schedule at LHR which was an added bonus!! Will definately fly with again when heading East!!

Some Kind Of Wonderful, Apr 28, 2007
reviewer: Shaf from Singapore
Flew return to Sydney from Singapore on their A340 aircraft which is wonderfully comfortable with ample leg room, great food, thoughtful snacks in between and yes I had an ice cream on board an airplane for the first time in my life! Return leg was only 30% full so had the seats next to me all to myself.

Cabin crews were less visible during the return leg (although it's understandable being a night flight). Was a little frustrated when my calls for the cabin crew attention were left unanswered (they seem to be oblivious of the signal light for cabin crew and all of them walked through the other aisle) as I was in need of a drink badly. Luckily for me, breakfast service was just around the corner.

Great entertainment on board too and hence I will definitely fly again with GulfAir.

first class hong kong - bahrain - frankfurt, Apr 14, 2007
reviewer: J. Meyer from Hong Kong
in january me and my wife first time used gulf air first class from hong kong to frankfurt via bangkok and bahrain. for hong kong - bahrain - hong kong they still use the old cabin equipment - specially the first row being quite uncomfortable and unattractive. and so was the service and the food. the first class lounge in bahrain, where we had to spend more than 3 hours is very uncomfortable and boring. far far away from emirates for example. the cabin equipment to and from frankfurt was new, nice and comfortable, although seat adjustment of 2 seats not working properly and notebook electricity supply not working at all. service was good - food just average. the whole trip was worth the money only because of a special promotion buy one, get one free. without the promotion we would prefer other airlines next time.

Trying to be Emirates but nowhere near!, Mar 30, 2007

My wife and two young kids flew Gulf Air from Heathrow to Muscat Oman. Our flights were picked to allow flying at night and so that our 2 year old would sleep rather than having to chase her around the plane. We were not given bulkhead seats and were squashed in a middle row - on I might add the hardest plane seats I've ever experienced. Gulf Air's 'Sky Nanny' is supposed to be there to assist families with young kids but short of asking us what the children wanted to eat, we heard nothing more and got stern looks when trying to attract her attention later. The meal service in economy took ages to deliver and complete and it became uncomfortable to have trays on our laps for so long as well as try to keep our kids sleeping. Similarly the cabin light remained on full for at least 3hrs after take off on a night flight and then were switched on at least 2hrs before landing allowing little sleep. On the return flight I tried to rectify the comfort situation by asking for bulkhead seats. The checkin clerk said we had them and I took our boarding passes looking forward to an easier flight. On board however I checked and found that my son and wife were accomodated in the bulkhead seats but I was placed in the middle of a row behind - logic??? I tried to ask the staff to rectify this but was told firmly to take my seat.
Thankfully my fellow passengers treated us sympathetically and allowed me the aisle seat so I could assist. The sky nanny was again similalrly useless and unsympathetic. The crew became clearly unhappy when two of the toilets became blocked and sent the 1st class sky chef through to do their job while they unblocked the toilet. Even worse was the fact that the flight crew illuminated the fasten seatbelts sign for a long period with no turbulence so that the toilets wouldn't be further used. The passengers ended up ignoring repeated warnings to return to their seats and in the end the crew gave up trying to persuade them. All in all poor service on the ground and in the air. Forced smiles do not go far when the veneer cracks so soon after take off. Gulf air's staff could do with taking a leaf out of Cathay, Thai, Malaysia and Emirates books. The one star is for the film selection by the way.

Very Poor Airline - I wish there was an option for no stars!, Apr 02, 2006

We flew to Bangkok via Bahrain from London Heathrow, and returned via Abu Dhabi. We were in economy class, and it should have been referred to as Peasant Class, as the crew had no interest in economy at all. The plane was shabby, with no
entertainment in the seats, and the centrally located drop down TV was hard to see, in fact the
entertainment level dated back to the 80's! My husband asked the crew on 4 occasions for a glass of water, as did some passengers seated behind us, and we all were ignored. Our trays were left on our table for 1hr 30 minutes, with many passengers resorting to getting up and removing the trays themselves. The service was so bad, that a number of passengers were taking photo's of the condition of the aircraft and the queues of people returning their own trays. As you may have guessed by now, we would not recommend Gulf Air to anyone.

My experience is very good.., Nov 06, 2005

OK Airline, Apr 26, 2005

I recently flew Gulf Air on Business Class from Frankfurt to Bahrain. It wasn't bad. The best part was the service from the staff. The entertainment system needs to catch up to others as do the seating arrangements. Business class needs fully reclining seats (beds) like other carriers.
