wooden, unsmiling, unresponsive, zombie-like cabin staff. where do they dig up these specimens?

Best value 1st class from LHR to JFK, Oct 10, 2005
reviewer: Chris Lalor from Belgium
I traveled with Kuwait Airways, 1st class on September 10 from LHR to JFK and returned Sep 17 JFK to LHR. I had read some conflicting accounts of KA's standards and decided to give them a try. After arriving from Brussels on a non-descript BA flight I checked in at the Kuwait Airways desk to be greeted by a very pleasant and helpful young lady who checked me in quickly and efficiently and gave me a voucher for the American Airlines Admirals Club lounge. I assumed that the KA lounge was closed, no matter, this is a first class facility with plenty of seating, magazines, newspapers, snacks, drinks and television.
Boarding of the aircraft was well organised, via seat rows, however some passengers insisted on blocking the gate instead of staying seated as requested by the KA staff. It was mainly Asian passengers, perhaps their command of English meant they didn't understand the situation and I applaud the patience of the KA personnel who repeatedly had to insist that passengers only come to the gate when they have been requested to do so for boarding.
The 1st class cabin was clean and well appointed, with friendly cabin attendants there to greet me. The aircraft was the magnificent, mighty Boeing Triple 7. KA’s 1st class seating is not up to BA or AA standards with only 62 inch pitch , it was for my 6ft 3 inch frame more than sufficient. The seat doesn't lay entirely flat but enough for getting to sleep.
Of course all KA flights are “dry” but as a non drinker that didn't worry me, besides all advice says one shouldn't drink any alcohol when flying. The food was excellent, plentiful and served up by motivated and smiling personnel. I was regularly asked if I needed anything, a nice touch. Entertainment is provided by personal fold out screens with limited music and films, etc. This perhaps was the weakest part of the flight although with only 6+ hours of flying time this not a major issue as most of us slept anyway.
The return leg was a repeat of the outward journey with a voucher for the Swiss (air) 1st class lounge being given at JFK airport.
I cannot praise Kuwait Airway enough for an excellent flight at a very competitive cost, the service is somewhere in between traditional Business and First class standards offered by the major airlines, but at less than half the cost. At £1250 return I thoroughly recommend Kuwait Airways and look forward to using them again when I travel to the USA or anywhere else they fly and I can get to fly business/first.

Worst ailine in the world, Sep 02, 2004
reviewer: R.P from New York, USA
I flew Kuwait Airways from New York - Kuwait - Trivandrum. The service and respect they give Indians and non muslims should be listed as a crime. I will never fly this airline again.

Horrible, Sep 02, 2004

One of the worst airlines I have flown.
