Good Overall, Apr 12, 2007
reviewer: Mark from UK
I regularly take transatlantic flights from Ireland to the USA (Chicago, NYC, LA).
Positives are: Aer Lingus fly to the best terminals in US airports, clearing immigration in Dublin saves time, A330 aircraft are reasonable spacious in economy, cabin crew really help passengers that need it (babies etc.), very low fares at certain times of the year (the cheapest I've seen), I have never been delayed on a AL USA flight.
Negatives are: some older aircraft need a major update with new seats and in flight entertainment, cabin crew are not very attentive in flight, need to pay extra for seat allocation when booking (new rule), LA planes with in seat IFE have a box under the seats that restrict leg room.
Overall a pretty good experience - window seats at the back of the A330 planes have the most legroom - the best and quickest way to fly to the US from the UK / Ireland. Avoid London.

Aer Lingus : low fares, great service, Nov 27, 2005
reviewer: PATRICK JORDAN from IRELAND
I fly Aer Lingus several times a month, usually from Dublin to the UK.

Whilst I regret not being able to enjoy Business Class on short haul routes, the low fares now charged more than make up for the loss. In any event, a champagne breakfast only costs 17 Euro!! Must be the bargain of the decade!

The new self service check-in is a great time saver, it even allows seat selection. If returning on the same day, the return boarding card is issued there and then : no time wasted checking in on the way back.

Despite the low fares, the Gold Circle Club remains one of the best in the business. Lounges are available with a good range of snacks, drinks, papers, etc.

I must commend Aer Lingus for the excellent service my family received on the Dublin - Orlando route earlier this year. This was my (at the time 8 month old) Grandson's first Transatlantic flight, and he was really well looked after. A drop down cot was arranged on both flights, and the Cabin crew couldn't have been more helpful.

There were a few infants travelling on both flights, and all were treated to the same high level of service.

It is this attention to customer service which makes flying Aer Lingus a pleasure, particularly when combined with good value fares.

No complaints, Jul 13, 2004

Even a flight from Manchester to Dublin leaves me with a feeling of dread at the pit of my stomach, so on the day we flew in January with low cloud and high winds, I was dreading it! But as soon as I got on the small plane, I was slightly reassured - even when the captain said in a cheery voice that 'today was not the best conditions to fly!' A bumpy flight, but with pleasant flight attendants - who kept giving me reassuring nods! Can't really give an indepth review for a 25 minute flight - but had no complaints at all!
